Alkagesta attended Miller’s DayWithMiller programme and annual cocktail event in Paris on 8 October, according to an account published by the company. The gathering attracted more than 400 participants from the commodity trade finance and risk sectors, including traders, banks, investment funds, development finance institutions, insurers and reinsurers. It combined technical workshops with an evening reception for the industry’s finance and risk community.
The workshop programme was organised by Miller’s Credit, Surety and Political Risk team. Industry speakers addressed trade credit, political risk and the management of commodity-related risks. According to Alkagesta’s account, discussions covered credit and surety arrangements alongside marine cargo insurance and political risk cover, examining instruments and frameworks used to support commodity trading activities.
The sessions also provided an opportunity to discuss how institutions approach risk management and compliance in what the company described as an increasingly complex operating environment. The programme brought together participants involved in different aspects of financing and protecting commodity transactions, with the workshops followed by a cocktail reception intended to allow further networking and relationship-building across those groups.
Alkagesta linked its participation to its own risk management, insurance relationships and governance priorities. The company said such gatherings support efforts to strengthen its risk framework and deepen ties with insurance and reinsurance partners. It also presented attendance as an opportunity to demonstrate the compliance and governance standards it says underpin its international trading operations.
The company’s activities cover petroleum products, biofuels, fertilisers and steel in approximately 48 countries, according to the same account. Alkagesta said it maintains a wide network of trade finance, risk and insurance partners, describing their support as central to carrying out its trading business responsibly. That network formed the context for its participation in the Paris discussions and subsequent reception.
