Alkagesta said it participated in African Energy Week 2026 in Cape Town, where Rustam Mirzoev represented the company throughout the five-day programme. In an account published on its website, the company linked its attendance to engagement with policymakers, investors and industry leaders, as well as efforts to strengthen relationships supporting its operations in African energy and commodity markets.

According to Alkagesta, the conference brought together participants from the public and private sectors, including energy industry leaders and international investors. Its scope extended across upstream, midstream and downstream activities, alongside renewable energy and energy services. The programme examined Africa’s place in global energy markets against a backdrop of geopolitical realignment, with attention to both the continent’s investment requirements and the challenge of moving proposed projects into delivery.

Energy security was among the subjects discussed, together with Africa’s potential to become a strategic centre for growth in hydrocarbon production, the company said. Other sessions addressed financing for renewable energy development and the delivery of projects spanning power, hydrocarbons and renewables. These discussions formed part of a broader programme covering investment and development across different parts of the African energy sector.

The agenda also included the revitalisation of onshore and brownfield assets and opportunities to develop frontier basins, according to the company’s account. Country-focused investment sessions covered Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. Alkagesta described those sessions as offering insight into regional opportunities relevant to Africa’s next cycle of exploration and production, alongside the conference’s wider discussions of energy investment.

Alkagesta said its existing African business includes the supply of petroleum products and fertiliser in West and East Africa. It presented participation in the Cape Town event as an opportunity to deepen commercial and institutional relationships connected with its growing regional operations. The statement did not announce a transaction, financing agreement or new project arising from the conference.
